A couple of weeks ago, I headed off to Hobby Lobby. Although there are 2 Hobby Lobby stores close by, a third store had just opened and it was HUGE. So, I had to go check it out.
I was on a mission to buy yarn for a tunic. I had found a cute pattern online and wanted to make it. Although I did buy yarn for the pattern, I stumbled across Yarn Bee Cloud 9 yarn and it was on clearance for $1.12!!! I had to buy some!!! Why not? It was soft and super squishy and for that price, how could you resist. Soooo … I bought lots of skeins. In my mind, I envisioned soft, squishy scarves that would be absolutely perfect for quick Christmas presents … presents for teachers, friends, etc.
They did not disappoint. Although it is sometimes a bit challenging to crochet with fuzzy yarn, the end result was worth it and it worked up super fast. I used a J crochet hook and crocheted with 2 strands of yarn, completing each double crochet stitch in between the double crochet posts rather than in the front and back loops. Simple, but perfect.
So, although I wouldn’t use Yarn Been Cloud 9 yarn for intricate designs, it was perfect for soft, squishy scarves! I would definitely recommend it for blankets, scarves, and hats, etc. It produces a soft and squishy texture that is sure to be warm in the winter!
Note: The picture shows 2 scarves. The green scarf was completed with only 1 skein of yarn using a G crochet hook, while the teal scarf was created with 2 skeins (2 strands at a time) using a J hook. I personally preferred the thicker scarf that was created with 2 strands of yarn; however, if you prefer a thinner scarf, simply create the pattern below with 1 skein of yarn and a G crochet hook. (You may want to increase the number of chains since you are using a smaller crochet hook.)

J Crochet Hook
2 Skeins of Yarn Bee Cloud 9 Yarn
Note: Crochet with 2 strands of yarn. Complete each double crochet stitch by crocheting in between the double crochet posts rather than in the front and back loops.
Row 1: Ch 20. (Adjust the number of chains to adjust the width of the scarf … If you increase the width, you may need more than 2 skeins of yarn.)
Row 2: Skip 2 chains (2 chains = 1st dc) and complete 1 dc/st in each of the remaining chains. Ch 2 and turn.
Row 3: (Chain 2 = 1st dc) Complete 1 dc/st. Chain 2 and turn.
Repeat Row 3 until desired length is obtained.
