RAYS OF HOPE SHAWL … FREE CROCHET PATTERN

“Happiness can be found even in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the light.”

Albus Dumbledore … J.K. Rowling (Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban)

This is one of my favorite quotes from Harry Potter … and it is oh so true!!! Throughout the Coronavirus crisis, I have struggled with darkness through fear and overall sadness. However, God and a crochet project filled with incredibly BRIGHT colors has jolted me from my funk and given me renewed inspiration and motivation.

I hope this pattern fills you with “light” and energy as well … Enjoy!

Rays of Hope Shawl

Necessary Supplies: J crochet hook, Main Color Yarn – Caron Simply Soft Sunshine (approximately 325 yards), Contrasting Color 1 Yarn –  Caron Simply Soft Persimmon (approximately 220 yards), Contrasting Color 2 Yarn – Caron Simply Soft Gold Ombre (approximately 100 yards), Scissors, Yarn Needle (to weave ends)

Gauge: 14 double crochets approximately 4” wide, 3 double crochet rows approximately 1.5” high

Note:     I used medium weight yarn (4).  If you use a different weight yarn, the end size of the shawl may differ.  Use the gauge given when crocheting the shawl to determine if you need to change the size of the crochet hook to create a properly sized shawl.

Yarn Used:  Caron Simply Soft …  Sunshine, Persimmon, Gold Ombre

Note:     To change yarn colors, tie on the new yarn color before the last yarn over of the last sc/dc completed with the existing yarn color.  Complete the last yarn over with the new color.  Continue crocheting with the new color.
